Obama’s now-infamous “Cairo speech” in June 2009, announcing a ‘new beginning’ in the Middle East soon after being inaugurated, will surely go down in history as one of the most foolish, naive, and stupid actions of any U.S. President.
Just a little more than 3 years after the Cairo speech, radical Islamists attacked the U.S. Embassy in Cairo, tore down the U.S. flag, and replaced it with their own black flag with an Al Qaeda emblem. Soon afterward, ‘moderate’ Egyptian President Mubarak was overthrown and Muslim Brotherhood leader Morsi seized ‘absolute power’ in Egypt becoming a ‘new pharaoh.’ Morsi was so outrageous and brutal that he was deposed a little more than 1 year later by an Egyptian military coup.
And now that it’s been a whole 5 years after the Cairo speech, what is the state of affairs in Egypt? “An Egyptian man was convicted and sentenced Tuesday to six years in prison along with a fine of $840 dollars for violating Egypt’s blasphemy laws, which make illegal any criticism of the Islamic religion… Kerolos Shawky, a Christian man living in southern Egypt, was… accused of violating the Islamic blasphemy laws… Kerolos’ lawyer said, “Kerolos didn’t intend to insult the Islamic religion, only he made a like on the page of Knights of the Cross on Facebook. He doesn’t have much experience in the internet plus he suffers from poor eyesight. So there was not any intention for the contempt or blasphemy of Islam.”” In other words, a Christian man in Egypt has been sentenced to 6 YEARS in prison just for clicking “LIKE” on a Christian group’s Facebook post. Along with the ramped-up persecution of Christians throughout the Middle East and the Meriam Ibrahim case in Sudan, Obama COULD NOT CARE LESS– he has done NOTHING, and said NOTHING SIGNIFICANT against any of these outrageous violations of religious freedom. As the Middle East implodes and radical Islamists take over, Obama stands by silently– he will offer no defense to threatened Jews and Christians, but will attack anyone who dares to utter a critical word against Muslims (e.g. rejecting the term ‘jihadist,’ cleansing FBI training materials that Muslims deemed offensive, scrapping the label “War on Terror,” etc.). The Middle East is disintegrating under Obama’s watch: this was apparently the ‘new beginning’ that he announced to the world 5 years ago.
