The Taliban is overjoyed that Obama has given up 5 high-risk jihadist/terrorist Guantanamo detainees, undoing the Bush Administration’s progress in the War on Terror (which the Obama Administration, in its political correctness, refers to as the “Overseas Contingency Operation”): “Goats have been slaughtered and served up across Afghanistan as the Taliban celebrates the release of five Guantanamo Bay detainees as part of a prisoner exchange. A senior member of the Afghan Taliban has described the exchange of the five detainees for U.S. Army Sgt Bowe Bergdahl as a ‘historic moment for us’. The five detainees… are thought to be the most senior Afghans who were held at the U.S. detention facility in Cuba, having been captured during America’s military campaign in 2001.”
As Herman Cain pointed out, “This is utterly disgusting. Not only have we freed five top-tier terrorists, we’ve sent them to celebrations and a hero’s welcome, and we’ve legitimized a terrorist organization.” The “Taliban commander told NBC News the exchange was the first time its ‘enemy’ had ‘officially recognized our status.'”
Meanwhile, Obama has admitted that the “Gitmo 5″ “may resume “activities” harmful to the United States, even as he continued to defend the deal.” Here is Obama’s amazing quote in its entirety: “Is there the possibility of some of them trying to return to activities that are detrimental to us? Absolutely. That’s been true of all the prisoners that were released from Guantanamo – there’s a certain recidivism rate that takes place.” He also implied that the Afghanistan War was ‘over,’ when the Obama Administration has merely set a ‘target withdrawal date’ and the Taliban is biding its time until U.S. soldiers leave.
